When I was a school going girl, I remember how the day of 15th
August would dawn with loving birthday wishes. Patriotic songs from the radios
and loud speakers almost sounded like birthday songs to me. Perhaps my personal
excitement made me see the festive spirits everywhere and in everyone.
Schools and streets would wear a festive look with the 3 holy colours of
our nation displayed in streamers and decorations. Flag hoisting , shower of
flowers , saluting to the flag, inspiring national anthem, playing roles of Bharat Mata
or a leader, pinning the flags to the guests’ collars are not just nostalgic
memories, they are actually the indirect lessons that taught me the value of
independence.
That independence is a valuable
feeling which needs to be celebrated with great reverence is a lesson learnt
while growing up.
Growing up with the idea that I was born on the day my country was born,
has its own impact. Neither the birthday cake nor the party had the allure
which the national festival had in my heart.
That ‘independence’ is a ‘glass’
which could break easily if not handled carefully, is a lesson that has dawned
gradually.
As an adult too, I have the good fortune to be in schools and continue to
savour the patriotic fervour with the same enthusiasm. However there is a new flavour
to the celebrations and participations now. The responsibility towards the
country and the role I can play in
it’s growth.
Having assumed the role of a mentor, guide, and teacher to young people,
it feels like the Independence day celebrations are on 24/7 .
That independence is a great responsibility
and one has to assume it with sincerity in purpose is the lesson I am going
forward with!

I admit that, the independence day celebrations are 24/7 :D
If you can feel the spirit of independence year after year, it is a sign of you living lively and sprinting an enthusiastic life. What more could fill you with gratitude that you are worth a million people rejoicing your freedom of rightful birth.
Wishing you an independent , joyful day of birth to remember!!!
I feel personally Independence day invokes the participant of ordinary citizen so that they take up cudgels for the nation-a challenge that will put us on the path of prosperity.we teach the students serving the nation is not a sacrifice but a privileged..and that youth is the symbol of dynamism, growth and development...I fully agree freedom is not meant to be free but it is like a glass we need to handle it with care. Are we an assets or an liability??The success of nation does not depend upon its potential alone.but the quality of its people and their performance.Devi
